Robert Tracy Murphy

Robert Tracy Murphy, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 at his residence.

Robert was born on February 23, 1927 in Dresden, OH to the late Wilmont G. and Nina (Aiken) Murphy.

Robert was a 1945 graduate of Barnesville High School in Belmont County, OH and attended Bowling Green State University. He retired from Ford Motor Company. He and his wife, Marian were the owners and operators Jack & Jill Play School for over 30 years. Robert was a Veteran of the US Army, military government regiment in Germany during WWII from 1944 to 1946. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Kirkwood, OH and a member of the American Legion, VFW and Eastern Star all in Sandusky. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, traveling, especially to visit his friends and family.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Nanette, (Stephen) Meyer of Rossford; sons, David Murphy of Westlake and Raymond (Kathleen) Murphy of Vermilion; grandchildren, Dustin (Lauren), Alex (Kelsey), Molly (Jared) and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Maeve, Declan, Rowan and two on the way; sister, Jean Snow of AZ and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Marian (Meredith) Murphy in 2013 and siblings, Aiken Murphy, Clara Grace Morehead and Wilma Cunningham.

Friends may call on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at Trinity United Methodist, 214 E. Jefferson St, Sandusky. Rev. Douglas Winner will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
