Norman A. Smith, 79, of Monroeville passed away Monday evening, September 25, 2017 in the Norwalk Memorial Home, Norwalk.
He was born April 19, 1938 in Norwalk. Norman graduated from the St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Monroeville and was a 1956 graduate of St. Paul Catholic High School, Norwalk.
Norman was a self-employed farmer and livestock dealer prior to his retirement. He was a good man that truly lived by the "Golden Rule" and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Norman enjoyed casino's and was an avid card player. He and his wife loved train trips on Amtrak.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Linda Fitzgerald; one son, Rick (Chastity) Heck of Norwalk; two grandchildren, Kaitlynn (Robby) Nichols and Rick Heck, Jr. both of Norwalk; and good friend, Joe Myers of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Frances (Fritz) Smith.
Friends may call Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Fr. Ronald A. Schock will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund, 79 Chapel Street, Monroeville, Ohio 44847.
