William Dale Ebinger, 93, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017.
He was born January 2, 1924 in a farm house west of Delphi, Ohio.
He was a lifelong area resident. Dale attended Greenwich High School. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 3516th Ordinance Automotive Maint. Co., 1st Engineers Special Brigade. Dale landed on Utah Beach during the D-Day invasion, and also served in the Battle of the Bulge in December, 1944, in Belgium. He was awarded the French Croix De Guerre with palm, and the French Medal of Honor.
Dale was a life member of The North Fairfield Historical Society, American Legion Post #706, Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fitchville Conservation Club. He was a former driver for W.L. Mead Trucking, Norwalk Truck Line, and Deputy Auditor of Huron County and Sealer of Weights and Measures.
Dale was also a volunteer for Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital, and a driver for Services for Aging for ten years. He served two terms on North Fairfield Village Council, and one term as Mayor.
Dale joins in heaven his wife of sixty years, Jean Chandler Ebinger, his parents, Fred and Wilma, brothers Robert, Earl, Evert, sisters, Eloise Evans, Clara Ellen Ebinger, Carol Ellis, and son-in-Law, Larry Ranker.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Judy) Ebinger of Norwalk, Ohio, and Deanna Ranker of Fort Worth, Texas. Four grandchildren, Ty Ranker, Wendy (Mark) Sunderman, Dawn (Dan) Ziegler and Eric (Misty) Ebinger. Five great grandchildren, Luke Sunderman, Cassy, Tyson and Joseph Ziegler, Taite Ranker, and by his sisters, Darlene McDougal, and Doris Edwards.
All friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service to celebrate Dale's life on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the North Fairfield United Methodist Church, 105 West Main Street, North Fairfield, Ohio. Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. He will be interred in North Fairfield Cemetery. Memorial
