Dorothy Mae (Jackson) Emery

Dorothy Mae (Jackson) Emery, 86, peacefully passed into the loving arms of the Lord surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the Fremont Elmwood Nursing Center after an extended illness.

She was born on December 29, 1930, in Polk County, N. Carolina.

She attended the Vanguard licensed practical nursing program. She began her long career as an LPN working for the Bellevue Hospital in the obstetrics department for many years. Then, she worked for several nursing homes in Clyde.
She was an avid bowler. She bowled in many leagues, tournaments, bowling for dollars, and with professionals. She loved the mountains of N. Carolina. She enjoyed BINGO. She loved to crochet.

Her biggest joy in life were her children and grandchildren, Aaron (Sunny) Emery, Jeff (Susie) Harvey, Greg (Anna) Harvey, Christina (Emery) Dezanett, Jonathon Emery, Heather Emery, Jacqueline Vickery, and Jessica Emery, as well as many great-grandchildren.

"Dot" is also survived by her children, Sandra (Charles) Rhoad, of Port Clinton, OH, Larry (Pam) Emery, of Wadsworth, OH, William Emery, III, of Fremont, OH, Richard (Rebecca) Emery, of Huron, OH, and Melesa (Shannon) Norman, of Bellevue, OH; and sisters, Lois (Garland) Searcy, Vivian (Sam dec.) Searcy, Jerry (Marge) Jackson, and Stanley (Pat) Jackson, all of N. Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Monie and Volley Jackson; sister, Noel Sternburg; and William J. Emery, Jr.

A celebration of life is planned for Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. at the VFW, 847 W. Maple St., Clyde, OH. A brief eulogy is planned at 4 p.m.
Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling the cremation. A family trip will bring her to her final resting place in Columbus, N. Carolina.

A special ‘thank you' to the staffs of Elmwood of Fremont and Stein Hospice for their care.
