William R. Hepner, 78 years old, known to friends as "Bill," passed away on November 19, 2017, from an unexpected heart attack.
Bill was born July 18, 1940, and graduated from Monroeville High School in 1958. Bill then attended Miami University, a proud Oxford man, which was reflected in his style through his entire adult life.
Bill's career was dedicated to the J. H. Routh Packing Company; to whom he was a loyal salesman for over 40 years. Upon retirement, Bill maintained a part time job with Cedar Point and worked in guest services, where Bill and his wife, Jean, made many lasting and fun-filled friendships.
He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Bill and Jean were married for 53 years, and were inseparable. They loved each other beyond words and never missed an opportunity to make each other laugh. He was a devoted father to his three daughters and loved them selflessly. He would even watch the Christmas Story in July, for his girls. Bill had 6 grandchildren who are left with fond memories of jumping off the back of his boat, endless trips to Cedar Point, and summers full of swimming.
Bill was a devoted fan to the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and Buckeyes. He had a passion for cars. This included his antique Corvette, which he spent more time waxing than driving.
Bill was a former member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, Elks, American Legion, and a Maritime Museum supporter.
He is survived by his wife, Louis Jean (Bly) Hepner; daughters, Laurie Hepner, Kelly Wilkie, and Michelle Routh; his six grandchildren, Tyler, Alle, and Libby Wilkie, and Robbie, Macie, and Maddie Routh.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Thelma (Schmidt) Hepner.
Private family services will be held. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of donations, Jean asks that in the spirit of Bill you share loving words and deeds with your loved ones, and that you appreciate the people close to you wholeheartedly.
