Russell Howard Ciphers Sr., 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 26, 2017.
Russell was born on June 17, 1937 in Cleveland, OH to the late Howard R. and Dorothy A. (Simonson) Ciphers.
Russell graduated from West Tech High School in 1955, where he excelled in track and field. He attended Western Michigan University and was a lifelong businessman who was involved in many different ventures. Russell was a Veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve. He was a member of the Fraternal Order Masons.
Russell is survived by his wife, Virginia (Doherty) Ciphers, whom he married on November 16, 2001. He is also survived by his daughters, Annie (Mike) Ciphers Hein and Laura Ciphers-Tandet; sons, Russell (Kelly) Jr. and Michael; seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
