Peter Paul Mellio, 95, residing in Milan, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 23, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Peter was born on July 20, 1922 in Mansfield, OH to the late Paul and Zoy Mellio.
He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1939 and received his bachelor in Chemical Engineering in 1943 from Purdue University, and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Peter was the head chemist at the American Crayon Company, as well as a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain. In addition, he was a member of the Sandusky American Legion, Sandusky Elks, where he participated in the weekly golf league and the Sandusky Eagles. In his spare time, Pete enjoyed golfing, skiing, traveling, making casino trips. dining out to various restaurants, and spending time with his family and friends.
Peter is survived by his nieces, Stephanie Gretz of North Carolina and Paula (Richard) Elias of California.
In addition to his parents, Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine A. Mellio in 2013.
Friends may call on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Father Michael Gulgas will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
