Howard Leon Hiser

Howard Leon Hiser, 88, Sandusky, died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at his residence.

He was born in Corliss, W.VA on April 27, 1929, to the late William and Kessie (Keeny) Hiser.

Leon was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army as paratrooper serving two terms in the service from 1947 tom 1953, receiving the WWII victory medal and the Army of Occupational medal.

He was the owner of Hiser's Transmission retiring in 1995.

He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 17, Sandusky and the V.F.W. Post 2529, Sandusky, the Gideons, and Church of the Nazerene.

Leon is survived by his daughter, VaLinda (Bill Talkington) Hiser, Roseville, CA; sons, Ricky (Teresa) Hiser, Castalia, Randy (Nanette) Hiser and Calvin (Myroslava) Hiser both of Sandusky; and Howard (Heather) Hiser II, Monroeville; step son, Dan (Trish) Brooks, Norwalk; step daughter, Tina (Jorge) Hernandez, Port Clinton; grandchildren, Erika Wilkinson, Wallace McKenzie, Charlie McKenzie, Tabatha Disanti, Logan Schell, Jacob Brooks, Olivia Collingsworth, Sabrina Hiser, Mason Hiser, Laci Hiser, Dalton Brooks, and Lexi Brooks; great-grandchildren, Zao, Zuri, Courtney, Natasha, Alexander, Aubrea, Joleigh, Elijah, Haley, Breanna, Rowan, Memphis and Noah; sisters, Betty McClung, Rosalie Rohden, and Dortha Mohan; special family friend, Shane Thomas; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Walton) Hiser; parents; brothers, Eugene, Bruce, Claude, Ray, Andrine, and Elwood; sisters, Marilyn Kessler, Lucille Rose and Bonnie Berry; and step son, Malone Brooks.

Friends may call on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 2 P.M. until time of funeral services at 4 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Darrell Gant will officiate. The American Legion Post 83 Color Guard will provide the military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons.
