Ervin E. Myers, 90, of Monroeville and Norwalk passed away Friday evening, December 8, 2017 in the Gaymont Nursing Home, Norwalk.
He was born February 23, 1927 in Willard, Ohio and had lived in the Monroeville and Norwalk areas for 54 years before moving to Chandler, Arizona in 1985.
Ervin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 2001 from the Achen-Gardner Construction Company. Prior to this, he was employed the A.J. Baltes Company in Norwalk for 30 years. After moving to Arizona, he worked for Kokosing Construction Company helping to finish Interstate 10 through Phoenix.
Ervin was a 60-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a member of the American Legion Post 547 in Monroeville, and had served on the Monroeville Board of Education for eight years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling.
He is survived by his four children, Linda (James) Smith of Norwalk, Gary (Connie) Myers of Lockbourne, Eric "Rick" (Deb) Myers of Milan, and Dennis (Gina) Myers of Dayton; five grandchildren, Kristi Thompson, Jason Myers, Aaron Myers, Taylor Myers, and Tali Myers; several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Hipp) Myers in 2009 whom he married in 1947; his parents, Kenneth and Etta (Cherry) Myers; three sisters, Evalynn Watkins, Velda Kelley, and Mary Ellen Jones; and one brother, Harold Myers.
A celebration of Ervin's life will be held Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 131 South Main Street, Monroeville, Ohio 44847. The family asks that you bring any pictures or memorabilia to share.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monroeville Athletic Complex, P.O. Box 361, Monroeville, Ohio 44847 or to the Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
