Joseph Gary Cerveniak, 82, of Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, December 16, 2017 in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on June 7, 1935 in Lorain to the late Joseph Thomas Cerveniak and the late Florence (Elsten) Cerveniak.
After honorably serving in the United States Air Force for four years, he then began his retail career at Hills Department Stores before working at Freudenberg in Milan and Trans-Kit in Toledo.
"Joe" or "Gary," as many new him, was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was extremely handy and, unlike many of us, did not need duct tape to get the job done! He loved to garden, ride motorcycles, boat, fish, and golf. He will be missed by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cerveniak, whom he married on April 23, 1955; children, Terry Cerveniak, Joseph Kenneth (Lisa) Cerveniak, and Beth (Jason) Webb; grandchildren, Natalie, Ryan, Joseph Alexander, Zachary, and Gabrielle; a host of great-grandchildren; and sister, Katherine Strock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Cerveniak.
Per Gary's wishes, cremation will take place and a private, family committal service will take place in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
