Helen C. (Eckman) Mees, 89, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, December 25, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Helen was born on December 11, 1928 in Sandusky, OH to the late Edward and Lucille (Kreimes) Eckman.
Helen was a 1946 graduate from St. Mary's High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, American Legion Auxiliary, AMVETS Women's Auxiliary and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting, her pets, and spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays.
Helen is survived by her niece and nephews, Kathy (Larry) Gurney of Castalia, Darlene Harp of Huron, Greg Mees, Lyn (Jerry) Robron, Geoffrey (Carolyn) Mees, Vicki (Ted) Dees Tim Mees all of Sandusky, Michael Mees and Aimee Satchell and numerous great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mees in 2011; sister, Mary Louise Harp in 2000 and nephews, Edward and Ray Harp.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
