William E. Saleski, 94, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday afternoon, December 26, 2017 at Heritage Village of Clyde.
William was born on February 12, 1923 in Wilkes Barre, PA to the late Lewis and Martha (Januszewski) Saleski.
William was awarded a WWII Veterans diploma from Sandusky High School. He was a Veteran of the of the US Army, serving as a paratrooper during WWII, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was employed with Ringsby United, retiring in 1978, and with the maintenance department of Firelands Hospital. William was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Amvets Post 17 and the VFW.
William is survived by daughter, Joanne (Richard) Morency of Sandusky; grandchildren, Marta (Jason), Thomas Jr. (Julie), Carrie (Michael) and Michael (Amber); ten great-grandchildren; sisters, June Horvath and Louise Mayes; brother, Stanley Saleski and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Murphy) Saleski in 2008; son, Thomas Saleski Sr., daughter in infancy, and many sisters and brothers.
Friends may call on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave. from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Father Philip Feltman will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
