James Ronald Hartman, 73, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, January 5, 2018 in Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born on September 22, 1944 in Sandusky to the late Frank and Mardell (Moyer) Hartman. He was a 1962 graduate of Sandusky High School and served 6 years in the Army Reserve.

He worked 28 years at GM as an industrial electrician (electronics shop), and also worked as a radio announcer and engineer for three stations.

He was an ordained minister and served as an associate pastor for Calvary Community Church for several years. He served on the Children's Services Board, and held many officer positions in several local and state organizations regarding Foster and Adoptive Children. Importantly, he was chosen by Governor Celeste to sit on the Children's Services Advisory Board in Columbus. He was also chosen by GM as a Most Distinguished Excellence Award Member for Community Involvement. Jim earned his B.S. from Union Institute, had a private pilot license, and was an amateur radio operator (N8CF and formerly N8BPE).

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene (Platte) Hartman; daughters, Andrea Miller and April Black; sister, Jean Wieber; and sister-in-law, Paula.

At Jim's request, cremation will take place and private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to Victory Kitchen or Crossroads.
