Sara Ethel Zimmerman

Sara Ethel Zimmerman, 93, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday evening, January 4, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Sara was born on March 20, 1924 in Oil City, PA to the late Alfred and Edna (Hoot) Zimmerman.

Sara received her bachelor's degree from Ball State University. She retired from the Bay Village City School District in 1989 after 40 years of service teaching 2nd and 4th grade. Sara was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Huron Eagles. In her spare time, she enjoyed her summers working in the museum and resale shop at Put-In-Bay, singing in the choir at Holy Spirit Church in Avon Lake, going to the theatre and spending time with her family and friends.

Sara is survived by her adoptive family, Cindy Clausen, Kurt (Denise) Clausen, Kim MacAulay, Michael Bogart and the family dog, Ripley.

A Celebration of Life will be held and conducted privately with Sara's family. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
