Earl R. Herold

Earl R. Herold, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2017 in his home.

He was born on June 1, 1931 to the late Carl W. and Irene M. (Lockwood) Herold, in Berea, Ohio, and moved to the New London area in the late 1940's.

Earl served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and came home later to work on the family farm. He worked as a mechanic and bus driver for the Western Reserve school district, former employee of Lake Erie Construction and Bleile Supply, as well as owning his own garage. Earl could fix anything that was broken, and was considered by family and friends to be a mechanical genius and loved spending time in his 3-bay sanctuary. He enjoyed drag racing, 3-wheeling, and spending time with his good friends and family.

Earl is survived by his sons, Jeffrey E. (Laurie) Herold, of Sandusky, Ohio, Terry A. (Jeanne) Herold, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and his step-son, Randy W. (Donna) McPeek, of Collins, Ohio.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jerrmey, Jennifer, Julie, Tyler, and Megan, by 15 great-grandchildren, two nephews, and his brother Robert C. (Helen) Herold, of New London, Ohio.

Earl is preceded in death by his first wife, Twila M. (Heitsche) Herold in 1999, and his second wife, Ruth Ann (Schatz) Herold, in 1996, and by his brother, Willard Herold.
