Lucas E. Hovatter, 37, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 10, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Lucas was born on March 13, 1980 in Norwalk, OH to David and Petra (Fleckenstein) Hovatter.
Lucas graduated from Monreoville High School in 1998. He was a press operator at Bellevue Manufacturing. He enjoyed walking, bike riding, exercising, playing tennis, being outdoors and spending time with his wife, Emmy and their cat, Furious.
Lucas had the brightest light inside of him that would shine even in the darkest hours. For over twenty years, Lucas and I have shared a love that others search for their whole lives. He was my husband, best friend and sidekick. I will love him for the rest of my days and carry his light inside of me.
Lucas is survived by his wife, Emily (Trueman) Hovatter, whom he married on October 12, 2001. He is also survived by his parents, David and Petra; sister, Stephanie (Neil) Heuring of FL; brother, Andy Hovatter; paternal grandmother, Sylvia Hovatter; niece, Hayley and nephew, Jarrod.
Lucas is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, George and Flo Hovatter.
There will be no visitation or services per Lucas' wishes. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Those wishing to contribute to Lucas' memory may do so to Back to the Wild, PO Box 423, Castalia, OH 44870 or to Life is Good No Matter What, 3200 W. Market St. #1, Akron, OH 44333.
