Richard Schneider, 94, Bellevue passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Bellevue Care Center.  He was born on June 30, 1917 in Franks, Ohio the son of the late John and Mary (Gerber) Schneider.  He married Alice Elfrieda Schaffer on September 2, 1946 at St. Alphonsus Church, Peru.  She preceded him in death on October 6, 1994. 

Richard was a retired farmer and loved his Guernsey cows.  Listening to polka music was a favorite pastime and cheering on the Cleveland Indians.  He belonged to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, Knights of Columbus, American Guernsey Association and Seneca County Farm Bureau. 

Richard is survived by Martha (Jerry Hess) Justi, Norwalk; Gerald (Gerry) Schneider, Monroeville; Frieda (Donald) Miller, Wooster; Sharon (Raymond) Shock, Bloomville and Joanne Hartley, Bellevue. 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law Lawrence (Nancy) Schaffer, Monroeville. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings: Lillian, Florian, Norman, Victor, Corena, Iona, Vernon, 1 brother and 2 sisters in infancy, and son-in-laws Dale Justi and Richard Hartley, Sr. 

Calling hours will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7th at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m..  Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville with Fr. William Pifher and Fr. Ron Shock officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
