Marjorie G. Calhoun

Marjorie G. Calhoun, age 95, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018.

She was born June 1, 1922 in Liberty Township, Crawford County, Ohio, to Floyd C. and Grace (Quaintance) Kibler.

She married Robert Calhoun in 1948, and the couple raised their six children in Norwalk area.
Marjorie graduated from Heidelberg College in 1944. She taught home economics in Columbiana and Wakeman, Ohio, working as an Ohio State Extension Agent in Lorain County. She judged clothing, needlework, and foods for 4H and Grangers at county fairs for many years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norwalk, Ohio, and belonged to many organizations including, the Presbyterian Women's Evening Circle, Huron County Professional Home Economics Club, Research Club, Garden Club of Norwalk, Lorain County Hookcrafters, Agricultural Heritage Society of Huron County, and Huron County Farm Bureau. She was a lifetime member of the Norwalk Public Library.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, music, bird watching, rug hooking, travel, reading, playing in multiple bridge clubs, and most of all, her family.

She is survived by daughters, Lynn Ritter of Burgoon, OH, Susan Calhoun (Dean Hann) of Athens, OH, and Gail Calhoun-Swenson (Fred Swenson) of Shoreview, MN; sons, Jim (Peggy) Calhoun of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and David (Leslie Harris) Calhoun of Charleston, WV; bother, Kermit (Evelyn) Kibler of Sulpher Springs, OH, brother-in-law, Charles Calhoun of Columbus, OH, nieces and nephews, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Calhoun in 2002, daughter Christine, grandson, Edison Blackford, and son-in-law James Ritter.

Calling hours will be held on January 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.
