Betty J. Criswell

Betty J. Criswell, age 88, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Parkvue Healthcare Center surrounded by loved ones, following a lengthy illness.

She was born February 10, 1929 in Portsmouth, Ohio the daughter of the late Oscar C. and Georgia M. (Mullins) McCown.

She was retired from Providence Medical Center and she co-owned and operated Parkertown Restaurant for many years. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Family was important to Betty and she cherished her time with them, she enjoyed many years of planning and hosting gatherings for family and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carla (Michael) McCool, and son, Mike (Robin) Criswell both of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Heather, Vicki, April, Michael, Georgia, Mickenzi and Lacie; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Joyce) McCowen of Cape Coral, FL and several nieces nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her much-loved husband of 64 years, Harold E. Criswell; one son, Dale E. Criswell; five sisters, Rata Bradley, Catherine Laidley, Louise Petrick, Lucille Wadsworth and Virginia Ruth McCown and three brothers, Bill McCown and two brothers in infancy.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:30 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastors of the Community of Christ Church, Sandusky will preside. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
