Barbara R. (Rudolph) Gilchrist, 78, residing in Huron, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1939 in Columbus, OH to the late Robert and Leatha May (Smith) Rudolph.
Barbara graduated from Sandusky High School and received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Mount Union College. She retired from teaching in the Sandusky City Elementary Schools after 27 years of service Barbara was a life time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a long time volunteer at the Sandusky Library. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cross stitching, traveling, playing the piano and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Gilchrist, whom she married on December 30, 1961. She is also survived by her daughter, Karen (Jim) Barney of Oak Harbor; two sons, Brad (Judy) and Jeff (Tammy) Gilchrist both of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Hanna, Marley, Nicholas, Emma, Sarah and Alyvia; brother, Thomas (Judy) Rudolph of Indianapolis, IN and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her step-mother, Mary Rudolph and brother in infancy, John Robert Rudolph.
Friends may call on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Rev. Douglas Winner will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
