Virginia E. Smith, 86, of Willard, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in the Willows of Willard, Ohio.
She was born June 9, 1931 in Centerton, Ohio, to the late Henry W. and Harmina (Bogema) Newmeyer, and was a lifelong area resident.
Virginia was a member of the former Delphi United Methodist Church, where she was the organist, and pianist, for many years. She was a former employee of the C.E. Ward Company, Kent Sporting Goods, Pioneer Rubber Company, and Midwest Industries. Virginia enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, baking pies, and crocheting. She and her husband raised their daughter's children after her daughter's death in 2012.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert L. Smith of Willard, Ohio, by her sons, Randall E. (Loretta) Smith of Monroeville, Ohio, Michael A. Smith of Willard, Ohio, and Daryl Scott Smith of New Haven, Ohio, by 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Hilda Lee of Fostoria, Ohio, and by her brothers, Herbert Newmeyer of Shelby, Ohio, Ted (Kay) Newmeyer of Shelby, Ohio, and Dale (Phyllis) Newmeyer of Willard, Ohio.
Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Jenny L. Smith-Tuttle in 2012, by her sisters, Harmena Elmer, Wilma Baumier, Emma Shetterly, Mary Frederick, Julia Ginter, Rose Wadsworth, and Crystal Messersmith.
Friends may call on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Edwards Grove Cemetery, Ripley Township, Ohio.
