Leslie "Red" E. Shahan, 82, residing in Huron, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Red was born on March 4, 1935 in Fellowsville, WV to the late Everett and Jane (Waybell) Shahan.
Red was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Davey Tree Company after many years of service and owned and operated his own private business. Red was a member of the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Red is survived by his wife, Judith (Poole) Shahan, whom he married on September 12, 1965. He is also survived by his daughters, Jacqueline Denise (Ron) Takala of Marion, OH and Annette (Tommy) Potter of Morristown, TN; six grandchildren, Lucas, Abby, Eric, Jenny, Amanda and Jordy; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatty Beal and Janet Shahan both of Akron and Faye (Charles) Bell of Fellowsville, WV; brother, Gail (Joyce) Shahan of Fellowsville, WV and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his daughters, Yolanda Butler in 1998 and Vickie Shahan in 2005; granddaughter, Jessica; great-grandson, Noah; sister, Bina Lee Hersek and brothers, Clifford and William Shahan.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky. Pastor Ryan Brown will officiate. Burial will take place in Sand Hill Cemetery, Castalia. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
