Bertice D. Duke

Bertice D. Duke, 83, residing in Sandusky and formerly of Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home after a brief illness.

Bertice was born on May 21, 1934 in Eufaula, OKLA to the late Clarence C. and Veva Mae (Cowan) Duke.

Bertice was formerly employed at New State Ice, he was a manager at City Products and worked for the City of Sandusky in the grounds maintenance department, until retirement. He was a member of Suburban Baptist Church in Oklahoma. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, making marble boards, woodworking, going to his grandchildren's sporting events, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Bertice is survived by the love of his life, wife, Fay (Cazzell) Duke, whom he married on December 22, 1953. He is also survived by his daughter, Pamela (Thomas Sr.) Speer; son, Bertice (Brenda) Duke Jr; grandchildren, Tom Jr., Jennifer (James), Lisa (Curt), Angie, Chris (Nikki), Jeff and Heather (Brad); 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Dean Duke of OKLA and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Bertice is preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Duke; brothers, Charlie, Dale, Vernon and Ferman Duke; sisters, Pauline Wilson, Mildred Palmer and Delca Duke and a brother in infancy.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Old Mellette Cemetery in OKLA. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
