Ronald Renande, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, March 6, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Ron was born on February 28, 1948 in Sandusky, OH to the late Leo and Mary (Capucini) Renande.
Ron graduated from Sandusky High School in 1966. He retired from General Motors in 2007 after 39 years of service as the union benefits representative. Following retirement he worked for the Kelley's Island Boat Line as a deckhand. Ron was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the UAW Local #913, Sandusky American Legion Post #83, Sandusky Orioles Club Nest 279, where he served as president and was instrumental in the clubs move to its new location. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling to his cabin in Canada with his buddies and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his wife, his high school sweetheart, whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage, Marcia (Camp) Renande. He is also survived by his daughters, Rebecca (Chris) Hilton of Castalia and Melissa (Josh Johnson) Renande of Castalia; five grandchildren; Tyler (Kelsey Leber), Noah, Kennedi, Angelo and Veronica; great-grandchild, Teagan; sister, Lee Ann Mazza of Mesa, AZ; mother-in-law, Lois Camp of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Linda (Terry) Overmyer of Marblehead; brother-in-law, Doug Camp of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by great-nephew, Lonnie Mazza; father-in-law, Melvin Camp and brother-in-law, Larry Mazza.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Father Matt Frisbee will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
