Starlin Jackson 80, Sandusky, entered into eternal life on March 16, 2018, peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Burksville, Alabama on March 9, 1938 to Johnny and Dynah (Davis) Jackson.
He was educated at the Lowndes Country Training School. He started chauffeuring at a young age. He chauffeured to and from Florida for 2 years before moving to Sandusky.
In 1957, Starlin began working at Sandusky Dressed Beef. In 1963, while working night shift at Sandusky Dressed Beef he owned and operated South End Grocery. Starlin retired from Sandusky Dressed Beef in 1971 and opened City Service Taxi in 1973. Starlin accepted Christ at an early age and was in a gospel quartet called the Gospel Travelers.
Mr. Jackson had an entrepreneurial spirit that led to multiple business endeavors and real estate acquisitions over a 50 years' time span. Starlin was a member of the Freemason Prince Hall Lodge #85. Mr. Jackson was given a key to the City of Sandusky in 1980 for his exemplary work in the community.
He leaves to cherish his memory his life partner, Candi Jarrett, sister Velma Casteel and brother Willie James Jackson, both of Sandusky. Children, Deborah (Willie) Ambers and Felicia (Michael) Osborne both of Montgomery, Alabama; Benjamin Jackson, Patricia McClendon, Brenda Jeter, and Gayle Jackson all of Columbus, Paul Moore of Sandusky, Kevin (Janel) Martin of New Jersey, Kia Jackson of Mississippi, and Brandon (Myja) Jarrett-Jackson of Sandusky.
He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; special nephew Christopher Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Starlin was preceded in death by both of his parents, sisters, Burnice Jackson, Louise Duncan, Johnnie Mae Smith, brothers Willie Frank Jackson, Charlie James Jackson, Sr., and Johnny Jackson.
Friends may call on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 6-8 P.M. in Providence Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 P.M. Noon in the church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
