Eugene A. Wise, age 84, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born August 21, 1927 in Monroeville to the late Frank and Rosina (Swint) Wise. He served in the US Navy during World War II, served as a Board Member of St. Alphonsus School and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Monroeville Knights of Columbus Council 1117. He retired after many years from CertainTeed as a foreman. He loved the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns, spending time with his family, watching all sports with his sons and grandsons, and his time spent at the St. John Neumann cabin.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louann (Meyer) Wise of Norwalk, to whom he married September 11, 1948; children, Karen (the late Robert) Hughes of Norwalk, Don (Cathy) Wise of Milan, Jan (Ray) Kluding of Monroeville, Dan (Rose) Wise of Norwalk and Dean (Julie) Wise of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Olive) Wise and Urban (Betty) Wise, both of Norwalk; and a sister, Rita (Vince) Foos of Willard; cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ambrose and Raymond Wise; sisters, Norma, Annie and Mary; and a son-in-law, Robert Hughes.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, where a wake service will be held at 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. William Pifher, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
