Helen J. (Sherwood) Easler

Helen J. (Sherwood) Easler, 85, residing in Norwalk, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care of Willard after a lengthy illness.

Helen was born on January 3, 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Custer B. and Mildred E. (James) Sherwood.

Helen graduated from Milan High School. She worked as a nurse's aide until retirement from Norwalk Memorial Home. Helen was a member of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan. In her spare time she enjoyed casino runs, camping, both playing and watching golf, reading, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her four children, Sandy (Tom) Leighton of Plymouth, MI, Sherry (Herb) Jones of Greenwich, OH, Sue (Ed) Beardsley of Sandusky, Steve (Laurie) Easler of North Fairfield, OH; and seven grandchildren, Brian, Brandon and Blake Leighton, Allen Jones, Makenzie (Jordan) Timbs, Veronica and James Easler and four siblings, Donna Capizzi of Sandusky, Mary Mockler of Norwalk, Jim (Elsie) Sherwood of Brighton, MI and Sandy (George) Peacock of Bellevue; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Easler in 1972; four siblings, Norma (Mark) Boersma, Jack (Ginny) Sherwood, Jean (Howard) French, Nancy (Bob) Swicker; and two brothers-in-law, Nick Capizzi and Tom Mockler.

Friends may call on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes, 1 S. Main St. Milan, OH 44846. Friends may also call on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church 10 E Church St. Milan, OH 44846 with Rev. Barbara E. Stephens-Rich presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
