Rodger D. Best, 78, Sandusky, died Monday, April 2, 2018, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on July 20, 1939 in Sandusky, to the late Warren and Mary (McCullough) Best, and was a 1958 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Rodger was an insurance agent for Western & Southern, taught Driver's Education for 22 years, and worked at District Tire and Great Lakes Tires.
He was the founder of Cruisin by the Bay, a member of the block watch on the west end, loved listening to music at the Huron Boat Basin in the summer, family dinners and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Pullano) Best, to whom he was married 59 years and they met when they were in the 8th grade; daughter, Michelle Ann Zabko, Las Vegas, NV; son, Anthony D. (Laurie) Best, Marblehead, OH; grandchildren, Whitney Best, Hayley Best, Cody Best, Arika (Gabe) (Zabko) Duchene, Zackary Zabko and Connor Zabko; great-granddaughter, Ariana Duchene; sister, Diane (Leon) Marchari, Sandusky; brother, Frank Amolsch, Sandusky; uncle, Jack R. (Pat) Best; and aunt, Hethlyn Glovinsky.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 1-7 P.M. in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
