Harold Simpson "Jackpot" Ott

Harold Simpson "Jackpot" Ott, 61, Fremont, formerly of Sandusky, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, in Toledo Hospital.

He was born in Sandusky, OH on October 9, 1956, the second son of the late Samuel and Nola Mae (Mosley) Ott.

Harold had been born with the gift of love and laughter. Harold could always make you see the lighter side of any situation. Harold was raised in the Church of God in Christ. He would often pray and knew God as his personal Savior. Everyone should have someone like Harold in your life, who could bring in geniune fun, joy and laughter into our (oh, so busy!) lives. Harold would talk about you, to you, and you couldn't do anything but laugh because he would always speak truth with humor. We were blessed to have Harold grace our lives. Harold had 23 Cadillac cars in which he could and would describe in detail. He took time to assist family and friends often playing cards and giving advice to those who needed it. People often said Harold had missed his calling and should have been a comedian on TV. Harold loved to travel and has been all over the US. Harold lived his life to the fullest. When he was a young man he met a beautiful young woman, Drenediea, who bore Harold three children. Harold owned his own Trucking Company, Meecho Express, with his wife, Lori (Heckert) Ott, and then became an ice cream vendor.

He is survived by children: Darthanyaun Lakeva Harold Haywood, & Kenynia (Vernon) Howard; siblings, Samuel (Ora) Ott Jr., Janice (Walter) Ott-Jones, Jewel Conway-Williams, Alphonso Ott, Alonzo Ott, Nola (Lawrence) Smith , Derrick (Alma) Ott, Laverne (Sonny) Pearson, Charmise Miller, and Lillie Caroline Glenn; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Demetrius Haywood; and a sister, Barbara Jean Stovall.

Friends may call on Thursday April 5, 2018, from 3-7 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
