Carol Orticari, 83, Sandusky, passed away, Saturday, April 7, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer, in Providence Care Center.
She was born to John and Elizabeth Cerlan on December 9th, 1934 in Elyria, Ohio.
Carol was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Elyria High School and moved to Sandusky in the late 1950's. She was married to Robert Orticari and following their divorce she went on to work for many years as an executive secretary. She worked at Norwalk Truck Lines, NASA Plum Brook, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Sandusky Plastics. After retiring in the 1990's she returned to work for several more years at Cedar Point. There she enjoyed working at the switchboard and call center.
Carol was an avid reader and a lifelong animal lover. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her most satisfying accomplishment in life was successfully raising her two sons. She was lovingly known as "Aunt Corky" to her many nieces and nephews. And to all the children in the old neighborhood near Ging Street and Campbell School in Sandusky she was simply known as "Mrs. Ort."
Carol is survived by her sons, Michael of Strongsville Ohio, and Robert (Susie) of Huron, Ohio, sister, Betty Oania of Ashland, Ohio. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends and will be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents and seven of her eight elder siblings.
Friends may call from 3 P.M. until time of funeral services at 5 P.M., Wednesday, April 11th in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. Sandusky. Burial will take place in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, OH.
