Mary B. Branam, 96, of Sandusky passed away Saturday evening, April 7, 2018 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
She was born November 6, 1921 in Sandusky and was a 1939 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Mary retired from the former Hafner Insurance Company after many years of service. Prior to this she worked at the former Farrar Shoes. In her retirement years in Winter Haven, Florida she had worked as the cashier at Duff's Smorgasbord Restaurant.
She was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Sandusky, the American Legion Auxiliary, and several bridge and pinochle card clubs. Mary enjoyed bowling, cross-stitching, jigsaw puzzles, and was a huge Cleveland Indians fan, with her favorite player being Jim Thome.
She is survived by her four children, Arlene McCloskey of Sandusky, Joanne (Bob Tucker) Allen of Richmond, Virginia, Cindy Branam of Elyria, and Steven (Teresa) Branam of Plain City, Ohio; three grandchildren, Rachel (Josh Herring) Sherman of Elyria, Erin Branam of Plain City, Ohio, and Sean (Samantha) Branam of Kernersville, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Dolores Schmid of Winter Haven, Florida; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Branam in 1996; her parents, Oscar and Elizabeth (Busch) Schmid, Sr.; and siblings, Oscar Jr., Leona, Lucille, Millie, and Betty; and one son-in-law, Craig McCloskey.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 12, 2018 in the funeral home with the Rev. Jerald A. Fenske officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Stephen United Church of Christ, 905 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
