Gaylynne (Helton) Matthews, 69, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 in University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was born February 17, 1949 in New London, Ohio, to the late Eddie Ray and Rene A. (Collingwood) Helton, and was a lifelong area resident.
Gaylynne was a 1967 graduate of New London High School, and was an S.T.N.A. for many area nursing facilities including Gaymont Nursing Center, and Twilight Gardens Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and friends, and her dogs, Sampson, and Victor.
Gaylynne is survived by her husband of 33 years, Stanley E. "Butch" Matthews of Norwalk, Ohio, by her daughter, Heather L. Gardner of Norwalk, Ohio, by her step-son, Dustan Matthews of Brandonburg, Kentucky, and by six grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Don and Debi Helton of Norwalk, Ohio, by one niece, two nephews, and by her best friend, Georgene Wilson of Norwalk, Ohio.
Gaylynne was preceded in death by her brothers, Danny Ray Helton, and Rex Allen Helton.
Friends may call on Monday, May 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Brain Oglesbee, Pastor of the Norwalk United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in North Fairfield Cemetery.
