Homer McGill, 66, Sandusky, died Sunday, September 18, 2011, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 21, 1944 in Vossburg, Mississippi.
He was employed by Lorain Ford for 33 years, and also worked for Plum Brook Country Club, and Ferrell-Cheek Steel Co. After his retirement from Ford in 2001, he worked for Parkvue Health Care Center.
Homer was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, New St. John #192 F. & A.M., Sandusky City Awareness Council, and he loved reading, cooking, politics, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Amstutz) McGill; special father, Willie Lee Roberts; children, Nora Marie McGill, Angela Amstutz, and Kindra McGill; grandchildren, Xia Xiang "Ceon" McGill, John Hood IV, Prince Hampton, De'Quan Hampton, and Kamora Keahey; a great-granddaughter, Hope Carnegie; brothers, Willie Ray (Beverly) Roberts, Edward (Juliette) Cooley, and John (Ellice) Cooley; step-sister, Margaret Cacho; godchilden, Treva Ransom, Jeannie McLendon, and Shellece Jones-Hankerson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Cooley; mother, Lucille (McGill) Roberts; daughter, Felecia McGill; sister, Grace Cooley; and brother, David Lee "Poke" Roberts.
Friends may call on Friday, September 23, 2011, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
