Alta May (Willis) Walters age 92 of Sandusky went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 20, 2010.
She was born June 17, 1919 in Bowen, Kentucky to Lemon & Lillie (McCoy) Willis. Alta attended Montgomery County Schools in Kentucky. She married Lonnie Walters on May 9, 1942. She retired from New Departure on June 22, 1977. Alta was a member of Victory Temple where her son and grandson are pastors. She had many lovely Christian friends from the various churches where she had taught Sunday School. She held ladies missionary meetings in her home. Alta was a great warrior and received many answers to prayer on behalf of her family and friends.
She was a dynamic individual, overcoming many of life's obstacles through prayer. She resided at the Erie County Care Facility for the past 7 years where she received excellent care day in and day out. She was also graciously served by Stein Hospice the past few weeks who also provided her and her family with much tender loving care.
She is survived by her beloved husband Lonnie Walters, son, Rev. Lonnie R. (Nancy) Walters, daughter, Phyllis A. (Charles) Wright; grandchildren, Tammi Lewis, Tim (Marcia) Walters, Mark Wright, David Luke (Carolynne) Walters; great grandchildren, Charity Ryan) McGuire, Julia, Brook & A. J. Walters, Michael &v Andrew Wright; sister, Jessie Swope ; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nannie Moore, Easter Walters; brothers, Howard Willis, Evert Townsend, Boone Townsend and Clay Willis. Friends will be received Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm at Victory Temple, 1619 West Strub Rd., Sandusky, OH. Burial will follow at Meadowgreen Cemetery.
