William C. "Pastor Bill" Michaels

William C. "Pastor Bill" Michaels, 73, Sandusky, passed away, Saturday, May 12, 2018, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Sandusky on September 18, 1944, to the late Jessie Vernon and Bernice (Harvey) Michaels. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Sandusky High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Dominican Crisis.

He was employed by the Sandusky Register, Bellevue Gazette, the Sandusky City Schools as a school bus driver, and the delivery clerk. Bill also was the former chaplain at Parkvue , with United Church Homes.

William was an avid Ohio State fan, Cleveland Browns and Indians, and also bowled in the church league.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen (McGeachie) Michaels; son, Christopher Michaels, Sandusky; grandchildren, Noah and Mikayla, both of Attica; sister, Laura Michaels, Port Clinton; brothers, James E. (Donna) Michaels, Monroeville, Keith A. Michaels, East Alton, IL, and Terry L. (Pam) Michaels, Sandusky; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Michaels.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 3-7 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 P.M. in First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Lenore Kure and Rev. Robert Bottoms will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational UCC, Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, or to the Community at Parkvue, 3800 Boardwalk Blvd, Sandusky, OH 44870.
