Mark E. Quillen, 82, residing in Castalia, passed away Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family and a host of angels.
Mark was born August 31, 1935 in St. Paul, VA to Ashby and Mae (Grimes) Quillen.
He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 43 years of service working as a set up operator and was also a retired minister serving for the Church of God of Prophecy in Vermilion, Bluefield, WV and Sandusky. Mark was a senior golfer at Woussickett Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, archery, boating, Cedar Point, speaking Spanish, he was an avid traveler of twenty-two countries with Israel being his favorite. He was a wonderful builder and helped build all of the churches he served at as well as his family home and he also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife, Helen (Lawson) Quillen, whom he married on October 3, 1953. He is also survived by his children Cheryl (Ken) Holbrook of Huron; Ron (Margaret) Quillen of Castalia and Tammy (Ron) Ward of Bellevue and son, 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Mary (Bob) Mitchell of Port Clinton and several nieces, nephews and others.
In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by brothers, Elbert and Landon Quillen; twin brothers, James and John Quillen; and sister, Evelyn Harvey.
Friends may visit on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00pm at Mount Harvest Church of God, 150 State Rte 113 West, Milan. Pastor Jeff Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
