William "Bill" A. Schibley, 87, of Monroeville passed away Sunday evening, June 24, 2018 in the Norwalk Memorial Home following a brief illness.
He was born July 19, 1930 in Monroeville and was a1950 graduate of Monroeville High School.
Bill and his brother Richard owned and operated the former Sohio gas station and the former Schibley drive thru in Monroeville until retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bill was a ten-year Richfield township trustee, a volunteer fireman for 32 years, and a Monroeville school bus driver for many years.
His hobbies included making wooden bowls, casinos, playing cards, and he was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Bill and his wife Ellen wintered in Avon Park and Fort Mead, Florida for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ellen M. (Downing) Schibley; one son, David Schibley of Monroeville; two grandsons, Cooper and Brody Schibley of Monroeville; one sister, Carolyn Burden of Columbus; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Schibley in 1980 and Baby William in 1963; his parents, Wilbur and Thyrza (Knoll) Schibley; one brother, Richard Schibley; and one sister, Ruth Wood.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville. Fr. Ronald Schock will officiate. A family committal service will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
