Barbara Elaine Rengel, 88, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 30, 2018 at the Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 24, 1930 in Sandusky to the late Louis C. and Marian F. (Meyer) Herb-Hohman.
Barb was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a Charter member of the Mother of Twin's club. She enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barb is survived by her five children, Gerianne (Tim) Bogard of Castalia, Marianne (Jack) Cheetham of Sandusky, Dianne (Steve) Westcott of Castalia, Peggy (Jim) Lewis of Sandusky and David L. (Paula) Rengel of Sandusky; one sister, Betty (Eugene) Schalk of Fostoria; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband, David E. Rengel on April 1, 2017; step-father, Joseph Hohman; one brother, Richard Herb and two sisters, Audrey Ciresi and Marilyn Allen.
Friends may call on Friday, July 6, 2018 in the Sts. Peter & Paul Gathering Space, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky from 8:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Matt Frisbee will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Barb's family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Bruner, Dr. Sheldon, Dr. Preston, the staff at both Stein Hospice and Parkvue assisted living for their compassionate care.
