Robert T. Ewell, age 60, of Norwalk, died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. He was born October 18, 1950 in Sandusky. He graduated from Norwalk High School and was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. He was the first resident of Huron County to be drafted into the service on January 21, 1970. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in September 1971. He served as an Insurance Agent for several years with Western-Southern Financial Group and Monument Life, and worked 21 years at Janesville-Sackner Group. He was an avid sports fan and through the years enjoyed football and baseball, played in several bowling and softball leagues. He also had the distinction of earning a hole-in-one while golfing. He loved to travel, enjoyed the ocean, and took a trip to China. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Deborah A. (Downing) Ewell of Norwalk; daughters, Miranda M. Ewell at home and Melissa Ewell-Beaudet of Largo, FL; brothers, Steve Ewell of South Amherst, William Ewell of Milan and Michael Ewell of Huron; sister Shelly Ewell, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Betty (Terry) Ewell; and a sister, Pamela in infancy. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Paul D. Lamb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
