Lee's love for his family, Kelleys Island, the surrounding Lake Erie waters, and sailing were reflected in how he lived his life. Lee's passion for sailing began as a young boy on Kelleys Island and he continued sailing and racing his entire life through the age of 95. He shared that love with his children and grandchildren who sailed and raced with him, and his legacy will live on through them. In 2008, he was honored by the Sandusky Sailing Club with the Sportsmanship award. He was a Life Member of the Sandusky Sailing Club and a former member of the Sandusky Ice Yacht Club and American Legion.
Lee was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky, OH.

He is survived by his children Mark (Dr. Wendy) Brown, Genoa, OH; Lee Ann (Nicholas) Alexakos, Sandusky, OH; Jude Brown, Arapahoe, NC; David (Margo) Brown, New Smyrna Beach, FL; and Leslie Brown, North Ridgeville, OH and his grandchildren, Alexander Brown, Quentin Brown, Anya Brown, Laine Brown, James Alexakos, Katherine Alexakos, Jacob (Lauren) Brown, Samuel Brown and Emma Brown; and his brother and best friend Paul (Lois) Brown, Lakeland FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (LaPrad) Brown in 2012; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth; and his brother, Frank Brown.

Friends may call on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH.
