Virginia "Jenny Rose" (Barisch) Zahniser, 54, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly in her home Sunday evening, August 5, 2018.
Jenny was a 1982 graduate of Perkins High School. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in elementary education from Bowling Green State University. Jenny worked for Sandusky City Schools as a Title 1 reading specialist beginning in 2005. Jenny's priority was making connections with her students.
Jenny's generous spirit moved her to adopt animals considered unadoptable, and lovingly care for them for the remainder of their lives. Jenny accomplished her dream of writing a book and getting it published. The book's title is California Dreams and was written under pen name "Jean Zahn." Jenny loved being a mom; her daughter, Pari brought great pride and joy to her life. We will always remember Jenny's smile and vivacious spirit.
Jenny is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Juna Barisch of Sandusky, Ohio and her brother, Mark Barisch, of Tucson, Arizona.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Pari Zahniser of Columbus; her former husband, Mark Zanhiser of Sandusky; her sister, Lora (Wayne) Hamrock of Huron; niece, Angela (Matt) Ayres of Columbus and her nephew, Michael Hamrock of Huron.
Friends may come and celebrate Jenny's life on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
