Vincent P. Traina, 89, of Sandusky, died on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 16, 1929 in New York City, the older son of Peter and Mary Traina.
He was a resident of Vermilion, Ohio for more than 38 years before relocating to Sandusky in 2008. Vince was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky and previously served and was president of St. Mary's Catholic Church's Parish Council in Vermilion. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Lorain County Community Hospital (Mercy Regional Medical Center) and was a peer reviewer for the American Consulting Engineering Council.
He graduated from Manhattan College and University of Michigan and was a Professional Engineer in several states.
He served in the US Army in Korea and was a Consulting Engineer. He retired as CEO of R.E. Warner & Associates of Westlake, Ohio in 1995.
Vince is survived by his 10 children, Maria L. (Werner) Stoller, of Zurich, Switzerland, Thomas A. (Patricia) Traina, of Odesa, FL, Patricia A. (Henry) Kishman, of Vermilion, Veronica (Steve) Hawk, of Bulverde, TX, Joseph F. (Christine) Traina, of Minerva, Ohio, Peter M. (Kerry) Traina, of Holly Springs, NC, Dorothy M. (Peter) Galuppo, of Hawthorne Woods, IL, Vincent P. (Cindy) Traina, of Concord Twp., Ohio, Christopher J. (Cheryl) Traina, of Chardon, Ohio, and Alison A. (Pete) Yonkers, of Lakewood, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Scanlon), in 2014; and brother, Paul J. Traina.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
