Roland C. "Whitey" Bressler

Roland C. "Whitey" Bressler, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning, August 12, 2018, at his residence. Whitey was 95 years old.

He was born on March 27, 1923 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Dee C. Bressler and Emma (Haefner) Bressler.

Whitey was a 1941 graduate of Liberty Center High School where he participated in football. He was in the Army Air Corps as a Bombardier-Navigator, serving in the European theater of operations and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.

After returning home from WWII, Whitey worked as a millwright at Willy's Jeep Plant in Toledo. In 1955, he worked at New Departure Hyatt for a short time and then joined the Ford Motor Company and retired in 1985.
After retirement, Whitey spent many years helping others as a handyman. He was a jack of all trades and selflessly served many people in his neighborhood and church community. He was a role model to many and a devout follower of Jesus Christ.

Whitey was actively involved in his church, and he also enjoyed golfing, attending men's prayer meetings, spending time with his family, and walking his dog Buddy.

He is survived by 5 children, Janette McGrain, Canton, GA; Patricia (Sayed) Badrya, Santa Monica, CA; Richard (Val) Bressler, Sandusky; Timothy (Pam) Bressler, Sandusky; and Cary (Roberta) Krueger, Lorain.

He is also survived by his grandchildren David Bressler, Steven Bressler, Michelle McGrain, Billy McGrain, Brandon McGrain, Mohammed Badrya, Julia Badrya, Andrea Cottrill, Monica Bressler, Kevin Bressler, Quinn Rambo and Russell Bressler.

Additional survivors are great-grandchildren, Breck and Kyla Rambo, Brynn Bressler, and Judah Cottrill.

He was preceded in death by his son Michael T. (Judi) Bressler in 2016.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Road, Sandusky. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the memorial service at 11:00 am. Pastor Ryan Brown will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, Whitey's memorial contributions may be made to Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene or Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary in Port Clinton, OH. His beloved beagle, Buddy, now resides as a greeter pup for those coming to visit Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
