Donna J. (Bodnar) Brinker, 75, residing in Huron, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday evening, August 23, 2018 after a graceful and courageous journey with ALS.
Donna was born on July 23, 1943 in Indiana, PA to Michael and Jean P. (Tarolli) Bodnar.
Donna was a 1961 graduate from Port Clinton High School. She was a first assist surgical nurse at Knox Community Hospital. Donna was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Port Clinton and former member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Mt. Vernon, OH. She was a lecturer and Eucharistic minister at both churches. She was a member and officer of the Town & Country Garden Club, a member of Down to Earth Garden Club, Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Sandusky Sailing Club.
Donna was an avid gardener and enjoyed sailing, both cruising and racing. She liked to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Donna was an excellent cook, wonderful wife, mother, aunt and friend. She loved hosting all types of social gatherings. Donna lived her life with dignity and lots of laughter.
Donna is survived by her husband, Jim Brinker, whom she married on January 6, 1968. She is also survived by her mother, Jean; daughters, Stacey (Jeffrey) Witter of Sandusky and Jen (Rachel McCloskey) Brinker of Columbus, OH; five step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Michael.
Friends may call on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Madison St., Port Clinton. Father John Missler will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
