Lois Edith (Abele) Chupa, 99, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Lois was born on March 26, 1919 in Sandusky, OH to the late Harry and LuLu (Will) Abele.
Lois graduated from Sandusky High School in 1937 and was a graduate of Sandusky Business College in 1939. She was employed by the Trojan Powder Company during WWII and worked as an administrative secretary to the manager of the AAA Ohio Auto Club for 19 years, retiring in 1987.
Lois was a member of the Women's Civic Club, Plum Brook Country Club where she took part in the Women's Association and Golf Association, and the former I.A.B Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and loved music, gardening and working with flowers, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her two sons, David Chupa of Sandusky and Dennis (Kristen) Chupa of Avon, OH; five grandchildren, Megan, Dillon, Jeffrey (Beth), Derrick and Brendan; five great-grandchildren, Riley, Rian, Lucas, Cole and Ethan; sister-in-law, Janice Chupa of Lorain, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John C. Chupa on march 23, 2001; and three sisters, Leith Cathcart, Ruth Everson, and Harriett Abele.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 10:30 am at Meadow Green Memorial Park's Chapel of Resurrection, 2602 Bogart Rd, Huron, OH with Pastor John Apple presiding. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
