Rita A. Price, age 86, of Clyde, died Friday morning, September 14, 2018, at The Willows at Bellevue.

She was born May 20, 1932, in Marion, OH, and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1950.

After high school, she graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1958 and received her Master's degree from Kent State University in 1978. Rita taught at several schools during her career, including Bellefontaine Local, Belle Center Elementary, Columbus City Schools and both Townsend Elementary and Bogart Elementary in the Margaretta Local School district. She also taught classes for both Ashland University and Bowling Green State University. She started programs for education of gifted students in Erie County, Sandusky County and also the Sandusky City Schools.

Rita was the owner and founder of the Price of Excellence Consulting Services and founder of the Consortium of Gifted Coordinators.

Rita always felt that teachers needed more resources, which inspired her to open Creative Teaching bookstore in Sandusky with her friend, Pat Hamilton. She also wrote a resource book to assist teachers with the education of gifted students.

She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Castalia.

She is survived by her husband of 62 year, Robert Price; daughter, Tamara (Alan) Binger; son, David Price; grandsons Alex (Karley Wilson) Binger, Ethan Binger, and Garrett Binger; sister Paula M. Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Rhea (Thompson) Ellis.

Friends may call from 10 AM until time of memorial services at 11 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Congregational UCC, 205 Main St. Castalia, OH with Pastor John Paputza officiating. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
