Jose R. Zendejas, 93, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, September 27, 2018, in Twilight Gardens Home.
He was born August 15, 1925 in Cerrito Colorado, Michoacan, Mexico, coming to Lorain in 1954 and to the Norwalk area in 1974.
Jose worked for U. S. Steel in Lorain, Ohio. He attended St. Paul, and St. Mary Catholic Churches. He was a life member of Mexican Mutual, of Lorain. Jose enjoyed baseball, walking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce E. (Dunn) Zendejas, of Norwalk, by his children, Humberto Zendejas, of Lorain, Ohio, Bonnie Soto, of Lorain, Ohio, by his special granddaughter, Felicia Zendejas, of Huron, Ohio, and his lifelong friend Carlos Valdez, of Northfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Leticia Medina in 1995, and Blanca Lopez, in 2009, and by 7 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio, and on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st. St. Lorain, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in St. Francis Xavier Camrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, Ohio. Fr. John Reter will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
