Raymond Kenneth Shirley, age 66, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, October 04, 2011 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.
He was born June 21, 1945 in New Britain, CT to the late Matthew and Alice Rose (LaGasse) Shirley. He served two tours in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam, where he was a member of the topography company and received a purple heart. He lived in Bristol, CT for many years and moved to Norwalk in 1989 and retired from General Motors. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners, Am Vets, American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judaline (Gallagher) Shirley of Norwalk; daughters, Nanette Shirley of Lorain and Karen (Mark) Cawthon of Amherst; grandchildren, Michelle and Mason Cawthon; and a brother, Matthew (Helene) Shirley of New Britain, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Penelope Bissonette; and mother and father-in-laws, Al and Bernice Gallagher.
There will be no visitation. Private interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriners Hospital.
