Theodore "Ted" Wensink

Theodore "Ted" Wensink, 48, of Monroeville, died unexpectedly in a fall while deer hunting, his favorite pastime.

Ted was born in Providence Hospital, Sandusky, on February 6, 1970. He attended St. Mary's Elementary and graduated from Perkins High School in 1988. Ted earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University in 1993. Ted was an alumnus of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Beta Chapter. He married Jennifer Lilly, of Finleyville, PA, on November 18, 1995.

After graduation, Ted was employed as a design engineer in Harrodsburg, KY, Benton Harbor, MI, and in LaGrange, IN, before returning to Ohio to work with his family at Wensink Seed Farms in Oxford Township. This fulfilled a lifelong dream, working on the farm founded by his great-grandfather.

Ted is survived by his wife, Jennifer; their two sons, Jeremy and Timmy; parents, Richard and Kay Wensink; two brothers, Christopher (Liana) and Neil (Kate); nieces, Emma, Valerie, Jessie, and Natalie; nephews, Carter and Jack, who are proud to call him "Uncle Teddy Bear"; mother- and father-in-law, Ginny and Casey Lilly, of PA; and brother-in-law, Jeff Lilly (Eduardo Pulido), of California.

Ted was a wonderful, loving father, husband, son, and brother. He was ever-ready to help his mother and father. His family came first, even before his great love for hunting. In his spare time, Ted put his engineering talents to work, tweaking motors to improve fuel efficiency. In LaGrange, IN, Ted was a 4-H Advisor and Superintendent of a llama club. In Erie County, Ted was a volunteer with the Erie County Fair, particularly with the Oxford Hustler 4-H Club. Ted enjoyed not only his own children, but also his nieces and nephews, and their many activities. Like his grandfather, Ted loved animals. He had a special spot in his heart for babies of all species.

His humor and kindness will be missed by all who knew him. Those around him never knew what Ted would think of next for a smile!

Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, October 29 in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. There will also be a visitation on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until funeral services begin at 11 a.m., Pastor Russell Hepler, Ted and Jenn's Pastor from Indiana, will officiate. Burial will follow in Sandhill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ted's memory to 4-H, payable to: Erie County 4-H Committee, in care of OSU Extension, Erie County, 2900 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
