James M. Sandy, 77, of Sandusky, passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday morning, November 8, 2018 in Stein Hospice Care Center.
Born on January 4, 1941 in Page, W. Virginia, he was the son of Franklin and Irene Sandy.
Jim retired from District Petroleum. Through the years he worked at Sandusky Folding Box, Schneider Trucking, and Dinner Bell Meats.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved his family, his Honda motorcycle, and going to the Barrel House. Throughout his life he loved to ride motorcycles. In his younger years he was a member of the Erie County Sheriff's Posse and the American Legion.
Jim is survived by his children, James Sandy, Jr., Bill Sandy, Tim Sandy, Robert Sandy, Michael Sandy, Valerie Sandy, and Joseph Sandy, Sr.; his grandchildren, Amy (Greg Mathews) Sandy, Mindy (Jaron Green) Knotts, Joseph Sandy, Jr., and Michael Walker; his granddogs, Pike and Bluegill; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Irene Sandy; his sister, Elizabeth Betty Olemacher; and his beloved dog, Rusty.
Per Jim's request, cremation has taken place. A gathering to remember Jim will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the Jack Daniel's Barrel House Saloon, 101 E. Shoreline Dr., Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
